You follow feint sand tracks instead of roads, sleep under the stars where no hotel would feature, and meet tribes who are strangers to modern society. You may experience delays, cross-border issues, and gruelling roads with corrugations and potholes making for long days in our 4×4 vehicle. WINDHOEK
(50 km)
Day 1

After breakfast at the lodge, depart Windhoek driving north to your first destination, Otjitotongwe, located some 24km east of Kamanjab.

WINDHOWK - SOSSUSVLEI
(450 km)
Day 2

Set off in the morning, travelling north through many small rural villages before arriving in Opuwo, the Gateway to the Kaokoveld region. Explore a traditional Himba Village to experience a culture exchange, learning and understanding Namibia’s last traditional tribe.

KAMANJAB – RUACANA
(340 km)
Day 3

The next destination would then be the Kunene River in a northerly direction into Angola and will then set up camp next to the river. Crossing the borders of Angola, and for that matter, most of the other African border posts, is time consuming a real test of patience! Namibian citizens do not need Visas, just a valid Passport. Other countries will have to apply for Visas at their local Embassy. This needs to be done at least a month before you plan to visit Angola.

RUACANA - ANGOLA
(75 km)
Day 4

Reaching the town of Kahama after Kms of bushwhacking and following the tar road to Lubango. Due to the long civil war in the country most of the infrastructure was demolished so this will be a 4x4 on tar experience. There is a lot of development and construction work going on to upgrade the country's infrastructure so the Angola you will experience today will be forever gone in 2 years time. We will set up a bush camp as we progress.

IONA NATIONAL PARK
(85 - 90 km)
Day 5 - 6

Lubango is the largest city in southern Angola, here we will spend 2 days of sightseeing. With great attractions like the Statue of Christ, similar to the ones in Rio and Lisbon, and the spectacular view from the Tunda Valla cliffs where "traitors" were thrown off during the dark times of the Angolan civil war. There is the old town of Humpatha, a formal Afrikaner settlement of the old Dorsland Trekkers. We will shop in the African Markets, an unique experience in this African city with its Portuguese flair. We will then camp on the Serra de Leba.

BAIA DAS PIPAS - LUBANGO
(220 km)
Day 7 - 8

On our way to the sea we will view the Leba Pass - a true Engineering marvel with its hair-pin bends. Driving down Leba pass will be one of the highlights of this tour as this tar road drops over a 1000m in a distance of 10 km. The landscape changes drastically over the next 100 km from tropical to desert. We will search for a beautiful beach where we will camp for the following 2 nights - to the North of Namibia. The ocean here is great for fishing, diving, with massive Angolan Oysters and especially in summer it is great for spear fishing and lobster diving.

LUBANGO - MONGUA
(370 km)
Day 9 - 10

South to Namibia pretty old colonial harbor town - we will fill the cars up with fuel and re-supply before we enter the northern parts of the Namib Desert. En route South we will see View 2 the shipwrecks on these isolated skeleton coasts. We will set up camp for the evening where the sand dunes rise from the beach.
